Bhutan Culture Atlas

The Bhutan Cultural Atlas is a UNESCO initiative for mapping cultural assets to preserve both tangible and intangible heritage. Identifying local cultural assets is crucial for linking culture with community development. This project involves surveying and inventorying cultural resources, enhancing Bhutan's cultural background. The UNESCO-New Delhi Culture Team has implemented pilot cultural mapping initiatives in India and Bhutan, aligned with UNESCO's goals for safeguarding intangible heritage and developing cultural industries. Bumthang district in Bhutan was selected for this pilot project, with the Institute of Language and Culture Studies (ILCS) of the Royal University of Bhutan as the implementing agency.
