Prime Minister Visits College

Prime Minister Dr. Lotay Tshering, on his way back from Zhemgang, visited CLCS and gave an audience to the students and lecturers on the evening of 15th November, 2019.

Despite his busy schedule, he spent about two hours with the students and an hour with the lecturers where he emphasized on the crucial role of teachers and the main reason for making teachers the highest paid civil servants in Bhutan. He also highlighted on the importance of ICT and the government’s plan to make ICT available in the education sector right from the primary level.

The Prime Minister touched on other important topics such as the challenges posed and opportunities offered by the technological advancement to the education sector.

Speaking to the students, he shared his concerns regarding the unemployed youth in the country as there are around 65% unemployed graduates presently. He also stressed that students should make the best use of their teachers.

The program ended with question and answer sessions in both the gatherings which covered diverse issues.

The Prime Minister and his entourage, after a short break following the meeting, immediately left for Wangdue where he is due to attend the Passing Out Parade of Desuung today.
